Magic Flute Opera Project
Waltham Forest pupils perform their unique version of Mozart's Magic Flute opera
This year around 2,000 young people from age 5 to 18 performed in nine concerts in venues across the borough from 1st to 5th July 2024.
Concert details:
1) Primary School Showcase
Monday 1st July, 11.00-11.45am
At Ss Peter and Paul Church, Chingford E4 7EN
Our Primary School Showcase brings children together to raise the roof and enjoy singing in a massed choir. Choirs will be accompanied by a live band who will perform and demonstrate their instruments to the children.
Tickets: Parents/carers and pupils from schools performing will receive further information from their school.
2. Monday Music School Groups Summer Concert
Monday 1st July, 7pm – 8pm
At Leyton Sixth From College, Leyton E10 6EN
Bands from Waltham Forest Music School come together to celebrate and showcase their music including the Guitar Groups, Funk in the Forest and Junior Funksters.
Tickets: Audience tickets are available on the door £7 / £4 concessions – all welcome.
3) Primary School Showcase

At St Saviour's Church, Markhouse Road E17 8EP

4) Ukulele Jam
Tuesday 2nd July, 2.15-3pm
At St Saviour's Church, Markhouse Road E17
A concert for children who learn ukulele with their class in school as part of our whole class instrumental programme. Children will play their ukulele with children from other schools to experience the joy and pleasure of a large massed instrumental group.

5. Wednesday Music School Groups Summer Concert
Wednesday 3rd July, 6pm – 7pm
At Amphitheatre, Walthamstow School for Girls, E17 9RZ
Acoustic ensembles from Waltham Forest Music School come together to celebrate and showcase their music including String Band, Wind Band, Brass Group and Youth Chamber Orchestra.
Tickets: Audience tickets are available on the door £7 / £4 concessions – all welcome.
6) and 7) Waltham Forest Magic Flute Children's Opera Project
Thursday 4th July, performances at 2-3pm and 6-7pm
At Big Penny Social in Walthamstow, E17 6AL.
The Waltham Forest Magic Flute Opera Project involves over 700 pupils from primary schools across the borough who will perform some of the most beautiful excerpts from the Magic Flute by Mozart. The two concerts are the culmination of a fantastic partnership project between the Music Service and The Royal Opera House 'Create and Sing' which introduces young people to the magnificent world of opera.

8) and 9) Concert and Workshop with Diabel Cissokho
Friday 5th July, 12-1pm and 5-6pm
At Greenleaf Road Baptist church E17 6QQ
Senegalese musician Diabel Cissokho will perform a concert for primary school children so they can experience his unique sound (12-1pm).
Afterwards children from Primary School orchestras will join together to rehearse with East London Music Group and then play in a concert alongside Diabel Cissokho (5-6pm).

Waltham Forest pupils perform their unique version of Mozart's Magic Flute opera
The concert is open to young musicians of any instrument (including singers) from beginner level to grade 8 to perform.
Young musicians are invited to our Solo Performance Platform. Performing is fantastic way for young musicians to gain experience and develop confidence.
